The Fans Opinion: Scottish Championship

What do the fans of the Scottish Championship think about the upcoming season?

Ahead of the football season starting we ran these polls across all the main UK leagues and it is fair to say that the engagement in the championship poll was by far and away the highest, highlighting the passion of the fans, for that we thank you!

In line with some of the opinions you’ll read further down the page, many people believe this to be a very competitive season with Ross County edging the vote on 21.9% but it was very close among the top six teams with only Alloa not getting one single vote, even from the die hard Alloa fans, which we’ll explore a bit more in a minute.

Opinion - Scottish Championhip league winners

When it comes to the expected league Golden Boot Winner on the other hand, it was a landslide vote but that is only half the story. When the poll was completed, Lawrence Shankland was a firm favourite at Ayr United, however with rumours circulating about a possible transfer to Dundee, this potentially throws our stats up in the air (no pun intended).

Relegation Thoughts

When it comes to the drop unlike the league winner, there was only one team most considered nailed on. Over three quarters of fans we polled named newly promote Alloa as most likely to be relegated.

The Surprise Package

Newly promoted Ayr United came out as the team most likely to surprise everyone but as we mentioned earlier in the post, we wonder if this will be the same if Shankland is not present.

Further to the set of questions we polled the fans with, we also asked them to share any other brief opinions they had on the upcoming season. If you agree with them, click the thumbs up, if you don’t click the thumbs down.

“Most competitive league in Scotland. Great place for younger players to learn their trade from bigger clubs. It’s a real shame it doesn’t have its own TV deal/show like it used to.”

Brian – Port Glasgow – Twitter

“It’ll be a close league as ever, with 9 of the 10 teams capable of a promotion playoff challenge.”

Andrew – Perth – Twitter

“That League will be the most difficult and close to call. With great games every week apart from Alloa”

Stephen – Dumfries

“Will be an exciting season with at least 6 teams capable of winning the Championship”

Jamie – Livingston

“I think Falkirk and Morton could start the season slowly. I think the top 4 will almost certainly be Dunfermline, Ross County, Partick Thistle and Dundee United”

David – Fife

“Dundee Utd are in freefall and are now only a sad shadow of the hugely exciting side of the 80’s. I fear for their existence.”

James – Kilmarnock
